The story behind ByteHound
ByteHound Corp. is a Calgary-based software engineering and development consultancy, founded by Mike Boiko, P.Eng.
Mike started his career in industrial controls, commissioning Yokogawa Centum VP and ProSafe SIS systems on a major oil sands project — the kind of work where a mistake does not produce a stack trace, it produces a shutdown. Writing Python and C# tools to make that work faster turned into a software career: full-stack development at ConocoPhillips, distributed systems for EV charging infrastructure at Shell Recharge Solutions, voice biometrics and QA automation at Nuance (now part of Microsoft), and backend automation libraries at Collective Technologies.
ByteHound exists because that combination turned out to be rare. Plenty of developers can build a web application. Fewer of them have stood in a control room at three in the morning. The habits that come from that work — test it properly, document it, automate it, assume someone else will maintain it — are the same habits that make ordinary business software worth keeping.
Today we take on work across industries, from startups shipping a first product to Fortune 500 operations modernizing systems that have been running for a decade. The technology changes with the project. The standards do not.

We work inside your team, not adjacent to it. Regular demos, direct communication, no surprises at the end of a sprint. If something is going sideways you'll hear it from us early, while there's still time to change course.
